High Pressure and Low Pressure Resin Transfer Molding


H.P.R.T.M. (High pressure resin transfer molding)
High pressure resin transfer molding has been design by Sistema Compositi to produce low resin content composites structures. Nowadays, this system is used to realize ballistic helmets, with a production capacity equal to 20helmets/hour, and it can ben used to obtain panels and sheetings for industrial vehicles.

RTM
RTM system includes three independent production routes composed of following parts:
  • Resin and gel coat pump;
  • Painting automated system;
  • Hydraulic heaver
  • Resin injection system with antidripping.
Resin and gel coat are stored in two separate termostatic tanks. Both resin and gel coat are placed in pneumatic mixers and their levels are constantly monitored. Two pumps are used, the hydraulic one to transfer resin in injection system and the pneumatic one to supply automated system through gelcoat. Pump system accurately controls resin/catalyst and gelcoat/catalyst ratios. Painting cabin contains an aspiration system and painting system operates through 6 axis, while a software controls gel coat correct depositino. Three hydraulic heaver are used as substitution of pressure molding, allowing equipment movements.
